Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to make a headstone?
Usually, 2 - 4 weeks between placing your order and the stone arriving at the shipping address you provided. Once you place your order and pay for it, our artists will start working on the headstone layout right away, using your instructions, photo(s) provided, and their artistic skills honed by years of working with our customers. Creating the proof usually takes 2 - 3 days, after which we will send you the proof for your review. At that time, you can request any number of changes. We do not engrave the stone until you are 100% happy with the design! Once you approve the proof, we will engrave, gently package, and ship the stone. Shipping typically takes 2 - 3 weeks after approval, depending on your location. We ship to cemeteries or any specified address.
Do I pay anything extra in addition to prices shown on your page?
You do not pay anything extra. Our prices include customization and shipping. Note that we ship for free to the contiguous US states only. If you want a stone shipped to Hawaii, Alaska, or U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam, etc., we will likely still be able to do so, but might have to charge you extra for shipping. Contact us in such a case: support@DiamondEngraved.com or +1-417-222-2296.
Can I customize the headstone?
Yes! All of the headstones we create are 100% custom. You can use one of our design ideas, or create your own - literally sketching the schematics on a piece of paper and sending us a photo of it. Or, you can just describe what you want in words. You can also give us details about your loved one's biography, their interests and hobbies, and we will create a beautiful layout telling their life story. Please provide the epitaph (if desired), names and dates, and any additional requests during checkout. Upload a portrait or portraits - if you're not sure which photo will work best for the stone, feel free to send us several.
What if I need changes to the proof?
On your order page, request changes with details. We'll update the proof and notify you. We do not limit the number of changes and will work with you until you are 100% happy with the design.
What kind of paperwork do I have to get from the cemetery?
We recommend starting by confirming that our stone types and sizes meet your cemetery's requirements. While our products are suitable for most cemeteries, some may require specific features like bronze-covered markers, which we don't offer. Please contact your cemetery before purchasing to verify their guidelines and complete any necessary paperwork. You'll typically also need to pay an installation fee for the cemetery to handle the setup of your shipped headstone.
Will you be able to help me fill out cemetery's paperwork?
We'll do our best to assist you. Most of the cemetery's form will be filled out by you, but if they require details from us—such as our business name, address, stone design, or even a signature from the manufacturer - we'll provide that information promptly to help move things along.
Is payment secure?
Absolutely. We use Stripe for all payments, ensuring secure transactions.
Can you ship the order to my home?
We can ship to any address, but keep in mind that our headstones can be quite heavy (for example, the 24x12x4 size weighs around 130 lbs when packaged). This makes delivery to residential addresses more challenging. For this reason, we prefer shipping directly to the cemetery. Before we do so, you'll need to coordinate with them, complete the required paperwork, and ensure they're prepared to receive and install your headstone.
How will I be able to track my order?
Once your order is placed and paid for, we'll email and text you a link to your dedicated order tracking page. This page will display all your order details, including status updates and the proof once it's ready. We'll also send reminders via email and text when the proof is available for review. On the same page, you can request changes or approve the design.
What materials are your headstones made from?
All our headstones are crafted from high - quality black polished granite for durability and elegance.
Do you only offer stones made of black granite?
Yes, all our stones are made from black granite, as it's the ideal material for diamond engraving. This process creates deep, vibrant, and long - lasting images that beautifully capture the life story of your loved one.
So you do not use laser?
That's correct - we don't use laser engraving, and that's a good thing. Lasers burn the stone, resulting in shallow and faint etchings that often require white paint to stand out, which fades over time when exposed to the elements. Our diamond engraving physically etches the stone deeply with a sharp diamond tip, ensuring the details won't fade or deteriorate.
Can you create colored portraits?
We can add color accents to your stone, such as gold, pink, or blue lettering, or elements like pink ribbons. However, paint does fade over a few years due to weather and UV exposure. Vendors claiming painted engravings last forever may be misleading you—no paint withstands the elements indefinitely. That's why we prioritize natural diamond engraving for enduring results.
Do you ship your stones to Canada?
Sorry, shipping to Canada it way too expensive. Plus, the hassle of customs clearing. So the answer is no, at least for now.
